Appreciation assignment.
Sometimes we fall into a trap of believing that "it's only us" or "others wouldn't understand". Well, maybe. But maybe not. How do you know this?
Here's some info I learned this morning that opened my eyes.
According to an article in the Washington Post, 50% of Americans do not have even one friend they can confide in. Including family, the average number of close relationships is only two. (June 23, 2006)
Wow. And imagine how this has likely changed -- for the worse -- because of COVID-19 isolation. Just wow.
Take 2 seconds and let that sink in.
OK, time's up.
Get moving. Here's your assignment:
1. Do you have somebody you can confide in?
----If yes, let them know you appreciate them.
----If no, know you're not alone.
2. Go out of your way to be fully present and listen to someone today. It might be the day they really need you.
My suggestion is to listen to someone. What are your suggestions on things we can do to show others that they are not alone? I'd love to hear your ideas!
